The opportunity
Due to internal secondment, an opportunity exists to join our Enforcement team. Reporting to the Leader Enforcement and as part of the Enforcement Leadership Team, you will apply your proven contemporary leadership experience and capabilities to lead a team of Employer Regulation Consultants and Investigators.
The position
This leadership role is responsible for overseeing complex investigation and enforcement activities, setting operational direction, and ensuring decisions are lawful, consistent, defensible and proportionate. The role balances people leadership, regulatory judgment and stakeholder engagement, while embedding a risk‑based, values‑led approach to compliance across the organisation.
This role will be a full-time fixed-term contract up to 2 years.
About you
As the ideal candidate, you will demonstrate a strong work ethic, integrity, resilience, and discipline. You will have proven contemporary leadership experience and have or display the capability to develop a comprehensive understanding and application of the Return to Work Act 2014 in a short period of time. You will possess a high level of ability to build relationships, influence key internal and external stakeholders to achieve strong regulatory outcomes across compliance and enforcement activities.
You will excel at drafting high-quality correspondence, supported by well-reasoned rationale, and be proficient in collecting and analysing data in preparation of documentation that supports administrative decisions, on regulatory matters. You’ll bring to the role your strong negotiation and influencing abilities and passion for nurturing staff development, fostering a culture of wellbeing, and driving excellence in service delivery.

Special requirements/Conditions
- Diploma in Government Investigations or a Law Degree or equivalent, and relevant experience in a regulatory environment are required.

The salary range for this position is aligned with the Mercer CED Job Evaluation framework. The final offer will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications, skills and experience.
