The opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and experienced professional to join our team as a Senior Debt Collection Officer.
This role is pivotal in driving successful debt recovery outcomes while supporting employers within the Return to Work scheme. You will engage with employers and their representatives, negotiate repayment solutions, and manage legal actions, within a supportive team environment. This position allows you to further develop your existing skills in debt collection and insolvency.
The position
The position involves engaging with employers to understand their circumstances and negotiate debt recovery outcomes, including payment arrangements and, where necessary, debt write-offs. You will manage both non-legal and legal recovery actions, including court proceedings, insolvency matters, and unfair preference payment disputes. This role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on debt recovery processes, ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes while managing reputational and financial risks.
This is a full-time, ongoing position based in Adelaide CBD, commencing 1 June 2026.
About you
You have a solid understanding of our Scheme and the importance of a structured debt collection process and its impact on the sustainability of the Scheme. You have extensive experience in debt collection and insolvency practices, with a desire to further expand on these skills. You excel in working with external stakeholders and approach challenges with empathy, prioritising people-focussed solutions. You are confident in making complex decisions, analysing data, and thinking creatively to find effective solutions. Agile and adaptable, you thrive in dynamic environments and are committed to achieving results as a collaborative team member within ReturnToWorkSA.
Special requirements
Certificate III in Financial Services (Debt Management) or equivalent is desirable but not essential.

Senior Debt Collection Officer - Position Description
The total remuneration package for this position is starting from $101,481.00 (exclusive of superannuation). The final offer will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications, skills and experience.
