The opportunity
This is an opportunity to join ReturnToWorkSA as an Access to Information Officer, playing a key role in ensuring requests for information are handled accurately, consistently, and within legislative timeframes. The role involves interpreting and applying the Return to Work Act, Freedom of Information (FOI) Act, and other legislation, while working closely with internal and external stakeholders. It suits someone with strong judgement, communication skills, and a commitment to high-quality service delivery in a regulatory environment.
The position
The Access to Information Officer is responsible for processing and managing requests for information under the Return to Work Act, the Freedom of Information Act, and other relevant legislation. The position assesses the validity of applications, determines the appropriate release of information, applies legislative exemptions where required, and ensures responses meet statutory timeframes. It also manages court orders, subpoenas, and warrants, while providing professional advice and service to internal and external stakeholders.
This role will be a full-time, ongoing position.

You communicate clearly and confidently, negotiate effectively with a range of stakeholders, and are committed to delivering high‑quality, consistent service. You bring integrity, professionalism, and strong organisational skills to your work, enabling you to contribute positively in a regulatory and customer‑focused environment. You are self-motivated and can work independently to meet KPIs and deadlines but also enjoy interacting with a friendly and supportive team.

Our services and those delivered by our claims agents are designed to provide early intervention support to workers and employers following a work injury to ensure the worker can recover and return to work as quickly as possible. We manage the collection of premium payments from registered employers and our invested funds to ensure we maintain a viable financial position that enables the delivery of quality support and services to injured workers.
In addition, we are the regulator of the Return to Work scheme and play the key role of protecting the integrity and fairness of the Scheme by monitoring and enforcing compliance with the Act and providing education and support about the health benefits of work.

The total remuneration package for this position is starting from $83,738 (exclusive of superannuation). The final offer will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications, skills and experiences.
