The Opportunity

Join a high‑performing Insurance Capability Team that plays a critical role in strengthening the performance, sustainability and integrity of the ReturntoWork Scheme in South Australia.

As the Insurance Capability, Strategic Advisor, you will lead strategic, scheme‑wide capability initiatives that enable Insurance leaders and teams - including our Claims Agents - to deliver improved outcomes for injured workers and employers. This role is central to identifying capability risks, designing practical and strategic solutions, and embedding systems that build a skilled, sustainable workforce across the Scheme.

Working closely with ReturntoWorkSA leaders, Claims Agents, internal business units and external stakeholders, you will turn strategic intent into operational reality. You will design and operationalise capability frameworks, lead complex projects, and provide strategic insights that support informed decision‑making across the Insurance function.

This role is offered as a two-year, full-time contract position.

The Position

As an Insurance Capability, Strategic Advisor, you will:

Optimise Insurance Capability

  • Design and maintain strategic systems that identify and analyse capability gaps across Insurance and the broader Scheme
  • Lead strategic initiatives that address capability risks and strengthen operational performance
  • Contribute to the design and review of key claims management systems and tools
  • Develop practical resources to support the application of legislative tests
  • Research best‑practice capability approaches across comparable schemes
  • Partner with People & Culture to identify talent needs and workforce risks

Enable Insurance Leadership Strategy

  • Work with Insurance leaders to evaluate scheme performance and identify emerging risks
  • Provide insights, tools, forums and data that support timely and informed strategic decisions
  • Support leaders to build strategic capability and deliver on Insurance strategic

Capability Data Management & Analysis

  • Establish and maintain robust capability and customer service data systems including Insurance Customer Experience
  • Produce monthly reporting and work with leaders to analyse trends and emerging risks
  • Develop and enable strategies to address identified risks

About You

You are a proactive and experienced strategic leader who is motivated by improving performance through people, systems and capability. You bring a balance of analytical thinking, operational understanding and strong stakeholder influence.

You will bring:

  • Expert knowledge of insurance scheme(s) and/or workers compensation (SA scheme experience desirable)
  • Experience designing and leading strategic programs or projects at a senior level
  • Strong research, analytical and problem‑solving capability
  • High‑level communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to translate complex insights into practical, actionable solutions
  • Experience navigating organisational, legislative or technological change
  • Strong planning, organisation and governance capability
  • Tertiary qualifications in business, commerce, HR, law or a related field (preferred)

Remuneration

The total remuneration package for this Senior Officer position starts from $162,700.00 (inclusive of superannuation).

The final offer will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications, skills and experience.
