We are seeking a motivated and technically capable Technical Officer to join our Insurance business group. This role plays an important part in supporting the effective delivery, assurance and continuous improvement of core scheme operations.
The position
As a Technical Officer you will support the Service Delivery and Operations functions by analysing performance and risk, reviewing operational practices and providing evidence‑based insights and recommendations to support high‑quality scheme outcomes.
You will contribute to the monitoring of claims service delivery, customer experience and agent performance, while supporting internal audits, policy and operational instruction maintenance, and cross‑functional initiatives. The role has a strong focus on assurance, governance and continuous improvement across core scheme functions including eligibility, Return to Work, disputes, serious injury, recoveries, and whole person impairment.

This role is offered on a full‑time basis.
We have two vacancies available, one in the Claims team and one in the Technical team.
About you
You are analytical, curious and comfortable working with complex information. You bring experience in work injury insurance, or a comparable regulatory or assurance environment, and you are confident interpreting legislation, policy and operational frameworks.
You are able to identify risks and systemic issues, translate insights into practical recommendations and work collaboratively with internal teams, claims agents and external stakeholders. You value professionalism, accountability and continuous improvement and you align strongly with ReturnToWorkSA’s values.
Key responsibilities
- Analyse data and information to understand volumes, trends, performance and emerging risks across claims service delivery
- Support audits and quality reviews to assess compliance with legislation, claims instructions and operational expectations
- Review and maintain claims instructions, policies and operational resources to ensure they remain current, clear and effective
- Monitor and report on claims agent performance, customer experience and service recovery outcomes
- Contribute to the operation of operational risk registers, including identifying risks, assessing controls and supporting mitigation actions
- Prepare reports, insights and recommendations to support leadership decision‑making
- Build effective working relationships across Insurance, with claims agents and external providers
- Contribute to cross‑functional projects and initiatives that strengthen scheme capability, governance and performance
What you will bring
- Experience in insurance, work injury, personal injury or a related operational, technical or assurance role
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret legislation, policy and data
- Experience reviewing operational practices, identifying risks and opportunities for improvement
- Well‑developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence and present insights clearly
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external stakeholders

The total remuneration package for this position starts from $101,481.00 (exclusive of superannuation). The final offer will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications, skills and experiences
