The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager Regulatory Compliance and Investigations, the Employer Regulation Consultant plays a key role in improving return to work outcomes through enforcement of employer obligations under the Return To Work Act 2014. You will contribute to the retention and return to work of injured workers by applying your strong negotiation, influencing and investigative skills to identify issues and support appropriate regulatory responses. The Position
This role is responsible for ensuring scheme participants comply with their legislative obligations and ensures prompt, risk-based action can be taken for non-compliance, including the pursuit of appropriate penalties.
Key responsibilities include:
- Applying legislation and relevant case law to ensure legislative compliance with claims and employment obligations through face-to-face and desk-based interventions
- Proactively identifying potential non-compliances through intelligence gathering and trend analysis
- Communicating effectively with a wide range of stakeholders to influence injured worker retention and return to work
- Developing a strong marketplace presence and awareness of Enforcement activities with a view to maintaining relationships and encouraging referrals
- Where non-compliant behaviour is identified, enable evidence-based decisions to support the successful imposition of appropriate regulatory actions which may include supplementary payments pursuant to the Remissions and Supplementary Payments Scheme.
This will be a full-time ongoing position.
About You
As the successful candidate you will be conscientious, honest, resilient and adaptable. You will have experience operating in a client service organisation in the investigation of non-compliance, as well as demonstrated experience in educating stakeholder groups and influencing compliance with legislative requirements. You will have the ability to apply legislation and relevant case law, have an excellent understanding of a modern regulator, and possess outstanding oral and written communication skills.
Special Requirements / Conditions
- Current driver’s licence is essential as you will need to travel to meet with clients.
- Some intra state travel and out of hours work may be required in the conduct of regulatory investigations.
- On occasion there may be a requirement to work outside of ordinary hours.

The total remuneration package for this position commences at $101,481 (exclusive of superannuation). The final offer will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications, skills and experiences.
