The opportunity

Our EnABLE team at ReturnToWorkSA is committed to delivering personalised, intensive support to workers who have experienced severe, traumatic, or complex serious injuries. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the team operates effectively and seamlessly. It offers a unique opportunity to apply your technical expertise as a subject matter expert, guiding and mentoring Claims Officers across a broad range of complex areas including whole person impairment (WPI), eligibility, disputes and third-party recoveries. You will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and influence claims management practices, while making a meaningful impact in the lives of injured workers.

The position

As a Technical Officer in the EnABLE team, you will provide expert guidance and support to the Claims Officers handling complex and sensitive claim determinations. Drawing on your strong knowledge of claims, eligibility and legislation, you will offer technical expertise, mentor team members, and act as an escalation point for complex and catastrophic claims, including disputes. Working closely with team leadership, you will help build team capability, manage workflows and enhance operational systems and processes.

This role will be an ongoing full-time position.

About you

You are a collaborative and proactive professional who brings positivity, clarity and a strong understanding of all aspects of claims management, including eligibility, WPI assessments, recoveries, dispute resolution, and an ability to understand legislation. You excel at transforming complex information into clear, actionable insights that supports well-informed decision making. In addition, your strong analytical skills allow you to identify trends that will drive better outcomes. Experience in WPI assessments, dispute resolution within workers’ compensation schemes or similar environments (CTP) is essential for success in this role.

ReturnToWorkSA Profile

ReturnToWorkSA is a statutory authority that regulates South Australia’s work injury insurance scheme and provides insurance that protects workers and employers in the event of a work injury. This insurance covers workers for a range of financial supports, and the provision of recovery and return to work services; or where return to work is not possible, to maximise a worker’s level of function and community participation. We assist employers to respond effectively when work injury does occur, and to understand how to reduce the economic impact through prevention and supporting early and safe return to work.

Special requirements/Conditions

  • Significant relevant experience in claims management or eligibility within the work injury insurance sector is essential.
  • Diploma-level qualification in Personal Injury Management, or equivalent appliable experience (desirable)
  • Current Vulnerable Persons, DCSI Disability Services Sector employment screening or equivalent, or the ability/willingness to obtain one.

The total remuneration package for this position is starting from $98,526 (exclusive of superannuation). The final offer will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications, skills and experiences.
