The opportunity
This role is pivotal in driving successful debt recovery outcomes while supporting employers within the Return to Work scheme. You will engage with employers and their representatives, negotiate repayment solutions, and manage legal actions, within a supportive team environment. This position allows you to apply your debt collection expertise, contributing to the overall success of the scheme, ensuring a positive impact on employers and injured workers in South Australia.

The position
The position involves engaging with employers to understand their circumstances and negotiate debt recovery outcomes, including negotiating payment arrangements and, where necessary, debt write-offs. You will manage both non-legal and legal recovery actions, including court proceedings, insolvency matters, and unfair preference payment disputes. This role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on debt recovery processes, ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes while managing reputational and financial risks.

This role will be a full-time ongoing position.

About you
You have extensive debt collection experience and a strong understanding of legal debt recovery processes, including insolvencies. You work professionally with external stakeholders and approach debt collection with empathy, prioritising people-focused solutions. Familiar with the ACCC Debt Collection Guidelines, you will have the confidence to represent your position in court if need be. You can think creatively, make complex decisions, and analyse multiple data sources. Agile and adaptable, you thrive in ambiguous situations and are committed to achieving results as a collaborative team player.

Special requirements/Conditions

  • Certificate III in Financial Services (Debt Management) or equivalent is desirable but not essential.
  • Credit History and Bankruptcy Check

The total remuneration package for this position is starting from $98,526 (exclusive of superannuation). The final offer will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications, skills and experience.
