The opportunity
The Manager, Claims plays a critical leadership role in strengthening the systems, insights and performance frameworks that underpin the delivery of high‑quality claims services across the Return to Work Scheme. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will lead a team that provides the operational foundation enabling claims agents to deliver timely, fair and consistent support to injured workers.

In this role, you will analyse scheme performance, predict emerging risks, and design improvements that enhance customer experience, protect scheme integrity, and support better return‑to‑work outcomes for South Australians. The position
As Manager, Claims, you’ll drive operational excellence, uplift capability across claims agents and improve outcomes for injured workers. This is a key strategic leadership role for an experienced people leader from personal injury, insurance or workers’ compensation.

You will lead a diverse team responsible for the systems, controls and performance mechanisms that support Eligibility, Recovery and Return to Work, Serious Injury, and scheme payment processes. You will enable high‑quality and consistent service delivery across the scheme through:

  • Designing and continuously improving service models, operational policies and risk controls
  • Analysing scheme performance trends and providing forward‑looking insights to inform organisational decision‑making
  • Leading KPI governance, performance reviews and quality assurance activities
  • Partnering with internal teams to uplift capability across our claims agents
  • Overseeing the EnABLE team supporting workers with severe, traumatic or complex injuries
  • Ensuring timely, accurate and compliant compensation and service payments
  • Collaborating with Regulation, Analytics and other specialist teams to uphold scheme boundaries and compliance


This is a full‑time, fixed‑term position for 3 years.

About you
You are an experienced people leader with a background in personal injury, insurance, workers’ compensation or similar complex service environments. You bring strong operational, analytical and problem‑solving capability, supported by tertiary qualifications in Personal Injury, Law, Business or equivalent experience.


You excel in building high‑performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability, excellence and customer‑centred decision‑making. You are forward‑thinking, confident in influencing senior stakeholders, and skilled at navigating dynamic environments where collaboration and sound judgement are essential. Experience interpreting the Return to Work Act 2014 is highly regarded.

Claims Manager PD - Insurance 

The total remuneration package for this position is commencing from $166,500.00 (exclusive of superannuation). The final offer will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications, skills and experience.
